J. B ROBERSON

The deceased, Mr. John Bennett Roberson, was born in Greenville, Butler Co., Alabama, December 17, 1839; was married to Miss Talitha Morris in 1860, who in 1873 broke earthly ties and joined the redeemed. He was married the second time to Miss Emarylliss Moore in 1874, who still survives him to mourn his gain. Mr. Roberson was the father of seven children, six girls and one boy, two of whom preceded the father in death. The surviving five children are: Mr.Bennett Roberson an Mrs. Mollie West, both of Illinois, who could not attend the funeral, and Mesdames, Maggie Valentine, Ella Watson, and Rosa Hammond, all of whom were present at the funeral.

Mr. Roberson was a soldier in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, enlisting in 1861. He came north in 1871, locating in Towanda township and since that time it has been his home. Brother Roberson became a Christian when a young man of twenty years, uniting with the Baptist church. In 1892 he united with the Christian church, in which faith he joyfuly and faithfully lived until death, and was a member in good standing of the Augusta Christian church at the time of his death. Brother Roberson entered into life at 2:00 p. m., March 7th, 1905, aged 65 years, 2 months and 20 day. Rheumatism, no doubt, was the immediate cause of his death. All that a skillful physician and an affectionate wife, loving children and kind neighbors could do was done but the Lord said: "It is enough, come up higher."

The subject of this sketch was a good man and full of the Holy Spirit. He was an honorable and respected citizen of this community, and loved-by all. He was a good neighbor, a true and loving husband, a kind father, a hard worker and a faithful and triumphant Christian man. For some time Brother Roberson. has been the esteemed and beloved Sunday school superintendent in the vicinity in which he lived. "His works will follow him."
